K9 Logic aims to help people understand how their dog thinks, feels, communicates and why it acts the way it does. Through this approach I am more able to reach a solution to problem behaviours. When a behavioural issue arises it can prove stressful for not only the owner but the dog as well and K9 Logic seeks to create the happiest most harmonious relationship possible between owner and dog.
The approach I take is to train the dog and the owner and assess each case on the individual personalities of both. No two dogs, or owners, are the same so there cannot be a one 'technique suits all' approach.
Treating canine behavioural problems has changed over the last twenty years as research into understanding of the dog’s mind has been developed.
Problem behaviours can be influenced and caused by numerous factors, including:
· The environment
· Past experiences
· Instinct
· Genetics and breeding
· Diet
· Medical problems
· Reinforcement and learning
It is therefore essential to establish the root cause of the problem in order to try and resolve it.
Dogs learn best through the method of associative learning and positive reinforcement and this is the basis of all K9 Logic rehabilitation. Punitive methods of training are now deemed inapplicable and cruel and they play NO part in my treatments.
There is no quick fix to improving and resolving behavioural issues; it requires dedication and commitment to change a dog’s behaviour but with the help and support of K9 Logic this is achievable.
